High Step House
A high set house with a glassed in veranda, carpeted floor, wallpapered walls ...and very little appeal - turns into a gorgeous home with polished floor boards, and unusual feature cut outs in the walls to create an unobstructed flow of energy through the house.

The outside appearance of this house was transformed from a very ordinary and commonplace suburban house into a unique appearance that not only stands out from the pack, but provides a warm and welcoming home to return to time and time again.
The Verandah

The veranda had been enclosed with aluminum sliding windows and panels. This created a long, narrow, claustrophobic room where the ceiling seemed to press down on you and the walls seemed to be closing in on you.
Take a look and just see what you can do with colour, opening of space and removing the carpet.
It was an unpleasant and wasted space. We removed the aluminum windows to open up this area and installed a wire balustrade complemented by natural timber shutters.
These simple changes transformed a useless area into a beautiful veranda where you can relax and enjoy breakfast or morning teas, take in the fresh air and sunshine, and enjoy a pleasant outlook.
Another dramatic transformation for a small financial outlay.
Lounge

The lounge and living areas of a home are often where we spend a lot of time, especially quiet time and relaxation. It is essential that these areas are conducive to relaxation and calming.
This area represents the most dramatic change and was also the least expensive. Simple wall cut outs to free the energy flow, removal of the carpet, a splash of colour and a few carefully chosen accessories completely changed both the appearance and the "feel" of this area.
You can feel the calming effect this room now has the moment you walk into it.
Dining Room

The importance of the dinning room is often overlooked by homeowners and designers. A place where family and friends come together to share meals, conversation and companionship. Simple rearrangement of furniture, a splash of colour and the removal of items giving off negative energy completely transformed this area.
The after picture clearly shows the cut out wall features in the dining / kitchen wall that create a feeling of being part of the kitchen yet separated.
Kitchen

The dated and uninspiring 70s style kitchen was transformed into a crisp and cleanly designed workplace with elegant and harmonious lines and its own unique character.
The woodgrain formica cupboards were removed and replaced with midnight blue and stainless steel. Features on the drawers and edging on the cupboards maintain the corrugated iron flow through the house.
Again, wall cut outs to the entryway create unobstructed energy flows through the house. The careful placement of wall cut outs between the dining, kitchen and entry ways discretely link these areas while maintaining a separateness.
Bedroom

This bedroom was very cold and oppressive. Orange drapes and ill matching gray striped wallpaper combined with beige carpet.
We removed the drapes and the wall paper and painted the walls a crisp clean ice blue, almost a white. The carpet was removed and the floorboards polished to provide a balanced contrast to the walls.
The careful placement of the bed, and carefully chosen accessories and wall hangings complete the transformation
See the difference in the room and what can be done with the correct use of colour, the opening of space and removing carpet.
Bathroom

The bathroom was cluttered and cramped with a lilac colour scheme. The high walls on the shower recess made not only the shower recess itself appear small but made the whole room appear smaller.
We cut down the shower screen wall adjacent to the bath to waist height and installed a glass paneled recess. This opened up the whole room and gave it a spacious feel. We replaced the floor tiles with warm earthy tones complemented by neutral cream ceramic tiles on the bath and shower.
We placed a corrugated iron panel beneath the window to continue this accent which is one feature of this house.
Downstairs

A large wasted space was quickly and inexpensively changed into an area that could be used for a number of activities.
The carefully planned use of colour transformed a commonplace "under the house" area into a warm and friendly area to relax and entertain in.
Wall cutouts were again used to free energy flows and the corrugated iron panels in the wall cutouts continue this theme down here.
Feng Shui for living space is all about colour, design and harmony and the transformation of this house is an excellent example of what can be achieved at a very reasonable cost.
